Christmas special with festive readings by Downton Abbey cast in aid of Tomorrow’s People

HRH The Countess of Wessex as Patron of Tomorrow’s People, attended a Reception and a theatrical performance by the cast of Downton Abbey in London. My post on HRH’s Patronage can be found here. Tomorrow’s People celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js Stars of the Downton Abbey series: Penelope Wilton, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Allen Leech and series creator Julian Fellowes took part in a merry, seasonal reading and Q&A session. The event was held at the Church of St George’s in London’s Hanover Square on 25th November, in aid of charity Tomorrow’s People, which supports unemployed people and helps them back into work.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsAfter Hello: ” In his role as Mr Carson, Jim Carter is used to dealing with the nobility. But he upgraded from Lady Mary this week when he had a royal encounter with the Countess of Wessex. It was Sophie’s turn to give the Downton Abbey actor a hand, as she helped him call out the winners of a raffle prize at a charity event.” Full article here. Great pics by Tim Rookie at REX, sadly I cannot use them on my blog.

Tomorrow’s People helps people to get and keep a job. Everything they do is focused on improving the long-term work prospects of those who face the greatest barriers to work. They transform the lives of adults and young people through work. Tomorrow’s People charity runs groundbreaking programmes, providing intensive, one-to-one support, focused on the individual. They work in prisons, GP practices, isolated villages and estates. Since its establishment in 1984, Tomorrow’s People has worked with over 440,000, supporting long-term, sometimes life-long, unemployed people into sustainable jobs.

Outfit & jewellery:
Heavenly Necklaces snowflake earrings (bigger version). Good news these are back in stock. I own a pair and love them. Go great with everything.
New Helmut Lang Gala Blazer.

Peter Pilotto ‘Tahlia’ blouse, worn during Quatar & India tour last year.
Black cigarette pants.
Pumps most likely by LK Bennett in Shilo style. Found pics of Sophie in those pumps that date back to 2009.

I loved reading this post because not only of Sophie but of the organization Tomorrow's People and yes — the stars of Downton Abbey! (Love the show by the way!) It's wonderful they are all taking part to help out this organization. I mean, work provides “dignity” for people and so it's wonderful to see Sophie being out and about doing whatever she can to draw people's attention to Tomorrow's People. Bravo!
