The annual Merry Little Christmas Concert in aid of NSPCC

On 6th December The Countess of Wessex held a meeting at Buckingham Palace as Chairman of Women in Business (promoting The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award). Later in the evening as Patron of The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), HRH attended the annual Merry Little Christmas Concert at St Columba’s Church in Knightsbridge.

The Countess gave a reading of ‘Christmas’ by John Betjeman. Following the service, HRH met some of the evening’s choir performers, volunteers, staff & supporters of the charity, including founder of Childline, Dame Esther Rantzen. During that fundraising event, there was a chance to win prizes in Merry Little Christmas raffle and there was also bidding for incredible items in the exclusive silent auction.

Last year’s sell-out concert saw outstanding performances from acclaimed tenor Russell Watson, BBC Chorister of the Year Angus Benton, and readings by Martin Freeman (Sherlock), Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones) and NSPCC’s royal patron HRH The Countess of Wessex. More images of this year’s event can be found at Royal Family Twitter and also Getty Images website has a gallery.

Then on the next day in the evening, 7th December, The Earl of Wessex as Trustee of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and The Countess of Wessex as Chairman of Women in Business (promoting The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award) have held a Christmas Dinner at Frogmore House in Windsor. Not sure if any pictures will be released, but most likely not.
