Founded by The Duke of Edinburgh, in 1956, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is the world’s leading youth achievement award that develops over 400,000 young people for life and work every year. As UK trustee of the Award, The Earl of Wessex has been deeply committed to the organisation’s work since achieving his own Gold award in 1986. HRH is also a Chairman of the International Award.

At today’s presentation, The Duke of York and The Earl and Countess of Wessex congratulated The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award holders. TRH’s also spoke and thanked a group of parents for supporting their children on their 12 month DofE’s Gold Award journey – many of the parents who attended today’s presentations had received The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award themselves.

TRH’s were supported by many celebrities today, who have helped with handing out diplomas to the winners of the Award. There is an article at the Daily Mail, but I would only stick to checking out the pictures, as I have no idea who came up with the text regarding The Countess: “The royal, who is married to Lady Louise Windsor, 14…”. In the evening, The Countess of Wessex attended a performance by Tre Voci as part of Newbury Spring Festival at St Mary’s Church Shaw in Newbury. To be updated.
