Ladies Day at Royal Ascot!

Today is Ladies Day at Royal Ascot and as in the past, Sophie moved from Emilia Wickstead to another favourite designer of hers, Suzannah. Today The Countess has chosen The Eleanor Dress with sleeves in eucalyptus colour (in sensitive sagey green tone). She stuck however to her favourite milliner by wearing another Jane Taylor’s bespoke creation (in slightly lilac undertone).

Today, The Countess presented The Ribblesdale Stakes Trophy to Ryan Moore, riding Magic Wand, it was his 51st win. Huge congrats. Earlier, Princess Beatrice, wearing a lovely Jonathan Simkai dress and hat by Sally-Ann Provan, presented the trophies to the winners of The Hampton Court Stakes; jockey Ryan Moore riding Hunting Horn. HM The Queen presented Frankie Dettori with his trophy, he has won The Gold Cup (his 6th, and 60th win at Royal Ascot overall).

As for the royal procession, today we saw, in the 1st Carriage: HM The Queen with her son, The Duke of York; Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Sir Nicholas Bacon. 2nd Carriage: The Princess Royal with Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence; Princess Beatrice of York and Princess Eugenie of York. 3rd Carriage: The Duke of Gloucester; The Duchess of Gloucester; The Earl of Snowdon and The Countess of Snowdon.

In the 4th Carriage: Mr. Peter Troughton; Mrs. Peter Troughton; Sir Marcus O’Lone and Lady O’Lone. In other royal news, today is The Duke of Cambridge’s 36th birthday! Happy Birthday! The Duke missed Royal Ascot, however he did attend the official handover of the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre to the nation. HRH is Patron of the appeal to create the purpose-built centre that will provide world-class rehabilitation facilities for members of the Armed Forces.

For today’s pictures I recommend checking Mark Cuthbert’s & Tim Rookie’s Twitter feeds. They posted some fun snaps of Sophie. For Daily Mail article with many photos, click here. Next, we will see The Earl of Wessex Patron, The Orpheus Centre Trust and The Countess of Wessex, attending a Gala Evening in celebration of their 20th Anniversary at Trevereux Manor, Limpsfield Chart, Oxted, Surrey on the 23rd of June.

  1. Unfortunately Sophie really did strike out on this particular occasion. Her first 2 Ascot dress/hat combinations were really spot on, they suited her so beautifully. These whole outfit combinations dress, hat, bag, shoes & jewellery were put together so beautifully.
Unfortunately I can’t say the same about this dress/hat combination. Although the dress is beautiful I do feel the colour really washes her out, perhaps the dress would have looked better in a bolder or brighter colour. Not particuldgly fond of this hat with the feathers on it.

Wasn't overly wowed by today's look. Not a fan of pleats. The colour is very bland. I wonder if, that was the purpose of today's choice, as not to distract from that hat ! Ms Taylor has out done herself the last three days !
Anna – Another great post Thank You x ! Do we know if Sophie will be attending the next few days ?

Immaculate fit of that dress on the Countess. One of the most flattering dresses I have seen on her in terms of fit. Beautiful overall look

I totally agree, I think she looks splendid as always, it is her smile and gracious manners that really shines through. Pamela

I do not always love Sophie's fashion choices, but she is fun to follow. Sophie has a great smile, seems to have interest in those she meets and can really rock a hat.

The feathers really make a statement, but it is Ascot. Nice that the dress is a more subtle look with the hat. While I like some bolder colors on Sophie, this muted color is quite pretty too.
